Our next story is a true testament of motherhood. Darcie is a mother of 5 whose twin girls are faced with autism. Not only is Darcie an amazing mom, she is also an entrepreneur who has a darling online children's clothing store, goldenhilldesign.com. Darcie's love triumphs over all the challenges that come with autism and she has started her own campaign to empower, not only her own girls, but girls around the world to help remind them that they are worth it. We are so glad we got to meet Darcie and her beautiful daughters and hear a little bit of their story.
LB: The Lulu Bella Project was inspired by Grandma Lulus legacy- what kind of Legacy do you hope to leave?
Darcie: About a a year ago I started my own campaign entitled "Worth it". I too wanted girls, women, anyone to realize that they are truly worth it. We all go through such hard difficult trials in life. It's very easy for us to be hard on ourselves and often times result in a low self esteem. After my twins were born, I soon realized they were not going to be the "fun picture perfect twins" I had expected. They were the hardest babies and life was far from fun but yet they are worth it. I am worth it. I hope I am able to teach my children to recognize those things in their life that are important to them and make them worth it.
LB: How long have you been involved with the United Angels Foundation and what inspired you to be apart of it?
Darcie: My long time friend, Kassie Moen, was a roommate of mine in college. We were actually in many elementary education classes together, one being a special education class. I remember very clearly admiring Kassie's natural ability to care and love these kids with disabilities. Every day I watched her and learned so much from her genuine attention she gave to these kiddos. Kassie invited me to be a vendor at the Walk with Angels event because she new that my business caters to kids with special needs since one of my daughters has special needs. After I agreed to be a vendor to support Kassie, I looked into the foundation more and realized I needed to be part of such a great organization! Then I joined!
LB: Finish this sentence. More than anything else I want.....
Darcie: my daughter to be able to recognize what she needs and how to calm herself.
LB: What is the single most significant accomplishment of your life so far?
Darcie: Besides my 5 children, I would say designing and creating my brand. Bringing my dream to life. Golden Hill Design, LLC.
LB: What is something people might be surprised to know about you?
Darcie: I love to shop and love to camp in the great outdoors (as long as it's in my trailer!)
LB: How can people get involved/support your cause?
Darcie: Purchase a one of a kind baby gift! goldenhilldesign.com
LB: It's a Friday night, what are you doing?
Darcie: Since my oldest daughter has just reached the age of babysitting, my husband and I have FINALLY started date night every Friday night! With 5 kids, I look forward to that one on one time with my hubby more than ever!
LB: We love fashion- what is the craziest thing in your closet?? I love fashion too! The craziest thing is probably my husbands clothes. His are less than to be desired.
Darcie: Mine are probably my two pair of boots. Tall hot pink and red. I get made fun of for them, but I also get the most compliments on them. I don't care what people think, I love them!!
LB: What's the oldest thing in your closet and why is it still there?
Darcie: Wedding dress
LB: Using only 3 words- describe your life.
Darcie: God, Family, Golden Hill
We appreciate Darcie sharing her story and beautiful daughters with us and admire the good she is doing by empowering girls to know they are "worth it." We wish her and all mothers out there a very special Mother's Day full of joy and love. We want all mothers to remember that YOU ARE ENOUGH!
